Richard James & Peter Hayes – Founders

Peter and Richard both grew up in the Hitchin area and have been friends for over 50 years. They attended the same school and even the same classes, both studying civil engineering – beginning their careers within the construction industry.

In 1986 the pair decided to go into business together and founded Hayes & James. From large commercial projects right down to small domestic works, the company flourished. As their reputation grew they began to focus on their love of gardens, leading to them specialising in the landscaping industry. Working closely with their clients they were quickly able to establish themselves as talented and hard working landscapers producing work of exceptional quality

Over the 30 years they have been in business they have worked on hundreds of projects, big and small, and have delighted clients with their passion, creativity and hard work. All of their staff share the passion that Peter and Richard have for gardens and perform their work to the highest standard.
