Hayes & James have been working at Queenswood private Girls School since 1994. In that time they have been thoroughly trustworthy in all aspects and the standard of work has been excellent. The projects they have been involved in have varied from laying and resurfacing roads and footpaths to brick built BBQ’s and York stone patio areas. They are always very competitive on tendered prices and completed the tasks within the quoted time frame. We wanted to re-landscape part of our rear garden and requested help from Hayes and James. Peter Hayes was able to suggest a design which was sympathetic to our “early Garden City” home. During the execution of the plan they were still responsive to requested changes and cooperative throughout the process.
The end result is an engaging York stone terrace enclosed by curved walls of soft bricks with attractive steps up to the upper garden. Within several months it gives the effect of having been there forever!
We were so pleased we have asked them to landscape our front garden.

Peter Hayes and crew transformed a wilderness into a garden that is now maturing beautifully. The task we set them was to extend a small overgrown triangular plot to incorporate an additional area 100×9 metres. Two hundred tons of hardcore had to be removed, backfilled and levelled. An extensive patio, paved kitchen garden with raised beds, bases for shed and greenhouse were constructed and the whole area fenced. This was rapidly followed by orchard, lawn and flower beds. Peter and the team proved to be hardworking, with excellent attention to detail and the outcome gives us pleasure day by day.

Hayes & James have totally transformed our garden creating an amazing space we love to be in. They completely stripped the garden back to basics, rebuilding and replanting, working to a really high standard. The team are friendly, easy to work with and clearly enjoy what they do. They’re a pleasure to work with and we’ve had them back for other smaller projects. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Peter and the team again.

Hayes & James undertook a large and complex project for us working with and managing the input of other contractors over a period of approximately eight weeks. The work included large scale driveway expansion, landscaping and construction, electrification of various services, drainage in addition to landscaping and redesign of a patio area together with expansion and rebuilding of a large pond The standard and finishing of the work was outstanding and we could not have been happier. Their approach to finding solutions, working with variations, integrating with other contractors and delivering quality was first class. The site was always tidy and they kept us fully appraised at all times – even during periods of our absence. All works were completed on time and budget and I would not hesitate in recommending them.

Hayes and James are a pleasure to deal with. The whole process from quotation to completion of the project, large or small, is stress free. Their prices are normally extremely competitive; combine that with their willingness to go the extra mile means that value for money is never in question. All the team have an eye for the details that really finish off their work and make their projects look spectacular. Again the whole team are always extremely respectful of our school and go out of their way to ensure the minimum of disruption even on the larger projects. Over the years they have become a vital part of the works involved in keeping our beautiful surroundings safe and looking spectacular. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Hayes and James for any external works and look forward to continuing to using them long into the future.
